The XPress Smart Board allows you to interact with digital content using touch and pen features. Follow these steps to connect your laptop to the board.
Step 1: Gather Your Equipment
Before starting, make sure you have:
✅ Laptop (Windows/Mac)
✅ XPress Smart Board (powered on)
✅ HDMI Cable (for video output)
✅ USB Cable (for touch functionality)
Step 2: Connect the Cables
1. Connect HDMI for Video Display
- Locate the HDMI port on your laptop and Smart Board.
- Connect the HDMI cable to both devices.
- This will allow your laptop’s display to appear on the Smart Board.
2. Connect USB for Touchscreen Functionality
- Plug one end of the USB cable into your laptop and the other into the Smart Board.
- This enables touch and pen interaction on the board.
Step 3: Select the Correct Input on the Smart Board
- Turn on the XPress Smart Board.
- Use the remote or physical buttonsto select the correct input source:
- Choose HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 (whichever port was used).
- Your laptop screen should now appear on the Smart Board.
Step 4: Adjust Display Settings
Windows Users
- Press Windows + P to open the display options.
- Select:
- Duplicate (Mirror your screen).
- Extend (Use as a second screen).
- Second screen only (Uses only the Smart Board).
- Click Apply to save changes.
Mac Users
- Click the Apple Menu > System Settings > Displays.
- Click Arrangement and select Mirror Display (if needed).
- Adjust the resolution if required.
Step 5: Test Touch & Interactive Features
- Try using your finger or a stylus on the board.
- If the touch feature isn’t working, make sure:
- The USB cable is securely connected.
- The correct input source is selected.
- Restart the Smart Board and laptop if needed.
Troubleshooting
❌ No Display on Smart Board?
- Ensure the HDMI cable is properly connected.
- Try using a different HDMI port or cable.
- Restart your laptop and Smart Board.
❌ Touchscreen Not Working?
- Make sure the USB cable is securely connected.
- Restart both the laptop and Smart Board.
❌ No Sound?
- Ensure the Smart Board is selected as the audio output in Windows Sound Settings.
